Don’t know if you remember Francisco, but he’s the one thats been going on the drug delivery runs with Nick. Francisco grabs his wife and kid and sneak out of the Colonia. My first thought was: why would he have to sneak out of a place that boasts to be about the people. Alejandro is already a shady looking character so I figured he had something to do with their plan to sneak out.

The only way out for them is to go through the bus that leads to the zombie holding pen. Francisco grabs a walker and uses the blood on his family in order to walk through them without being detected. I find the use of zombie blood on this show to be interesting. I’m not going to lie, had I discovered that zombie blood would make me practically invisible to walkers I would have walked been using it for runs and strolls down the street.

But The Walking Dead never used it to that extent. Possibly because the writers felt that the idea would have been overused and boring. But I like that it’s a part of the West cost life. I mean if you found an advantage in a world destined to go to crap, why not make use of what you can, right?

Well Francisco and family make it through unscathed but the outlaws have been circling looking for the location of the Colonia. They get discovered by Marcos who is willing to use Francisco’s family to force him to divulge the location of the Colonia.

The Hotel has some changes

All of the wedding party is fully involved in creating a new life at the Hotel. Madison got the generators to work for ice cubes and water. The the other members have planted crops that are slowly showing progress. Alicia is learning how to surf from Hector. Strand fixes the bar and has a well deserved drink.

Then the mother of the bride – bitter old lady from hell – knocks on Strand’s hotel door and stabs him. She stabs him with some fine cutlery because he “killed” her daughter. Jessica was dead when her father bit her cheek off during the wedding. Her existence after the fact, was just an animated corpse in a hotel room. But grieving and the apocalypse is different for everyone and this woman is not doing good with either.

Madison proclaims, in true Rick Grimes fashion that they cannot tolerate violence. Which probably means the older woman is going to be evicted. I doubt that killing her is even a thought here–but you never know.

Strand has lost a lot of blood and needs medication for his growing infection. If this man dies by this 2 for $1 sale steak knife, there will be hell to pay.

Elena tells the group of Hector’s brother, who had joined a gang with access to medication. Her suggestion is that she and Madison head out to ask for his help in getting some meds. Sound familiar? Hector’s brother is part of the same outlaws that are putting pressure on the Colonia.

Sounds like a reunion to me.

No Check out time at the Colonia

When Alejandro finds out Francisco snuck out the Colonia, he calls off any more drug runs to the outlaws. He thinks he’s protecting the Colonia, but as Nick has pointed out, he’s only giving the outlaws a reason to look for them more then ever. Alejandro makes it clear that he is a soft hearted dictator that is interested in keeping their space safe but everyone has to play by his rules.

Alejandro makes one of  his long winded speeches to his people. His message is equivalent to that of a preacher that wants to discourage lack of faith in a belief. It’s like staying within the confines of the Colonia is a religion. The problem is that the outlaws he’s not doing business with have been their biggest suppliers of water. How are they going to survive without it? That bite on Alejandro’s shoulder doesn’t produce water, so he’s not really thinking of his community when he expects faith from people who are thirsty.

Luciana is willing to listen to him as a leader, but Nick is not. Nick questions following Alejandro blindly. Nick has faith in their community but waiting on nothing but faith is not something he is confident about. Especially when they have solutions at hand that can keep them alive. Nicks continued participation is only because of Luciana’s devotion and his care for the people of the Colonia. How could he resist Luciana when she tells him off and then kisses him as if his clumpy hair isn’t filthy?

Prescription drug trade

Elena arrives at the drug trade with Madison and Oscar and a cooler for her nephew Antonio. She was smart  not to rely strictly on blood ties to request help. This will be an even exchange. Antonio suggests that the ice the fish are in is even more valuable . But he doesn’t want his aunt to come over. It’s unclear if its because of the danger or something else.

Meanwhile, Marcos is questioning Francisco and his wife for the Colonia location. Madison, who has been emphasizing a quick run in to the prescription spot, asks Elena to translate the conversation. Elena says that they are discussing an american with ratty hair that will deliver the drugs at a later time.

The siren on Madisons head begins to wail as she recognizes her sons description. She runs in and interrupts the interrogation begging for Nick’s  location. But she only gets the outlaws pushing her out with their requested meds. Antonio tells his aunt not to come back as they will be relocating soon. I wonder if they have their sights on the Colonia or they have found another location.

Strand’s Nurse

Alicia and on of the wedding members is keeping Strand stable. Strand commends Alicia for having excellent beside manner. She had volunteered at a hospital and learned the important things of taking care of patients. One of which, is never to give them false hope. Strand takes back the compliment but admits that he never needed sugar coating anyway.

Strand asks about Alicia’s lack of sugar coating in her own life. She took care of herself and he’s curious about how that came to be. Probably because Madison makes a great friend and he can’t understand how she has neglected her daughter. Alicia tells him that most her life was spent taking care of her father or brother. Her mothers hands were full and couldn’t put much effort in her.

Strand suggests that Alicia should call her mom out and make her see that it’s just the two them. It is now Alicia’s time.

Nick’s underhanded business

Nick makes arrangements with one of the guys to head out to give the drugs to the outlaws. The need water. Alejandro is blinded by faith and more people are going to die. The guy agrees. But Nick doesn’t share this with Luciana. Her faith is deeply rooted in being obedient to Alejandro. He is like a father figure to her.

Nick takes a walk around the houses and catches a glimpse of Marcos with binoculars, already checking out the Colonia. Seems like the lost everything anyway, there won’t be any need for a drug run now.

This is all culminating into a war. If the outlaws are looking to takeover, it will not be without a fight. The Colonia may be destroyed in the aftermath.

Ofelia is back

Ofelia heads out to a resort location to reminisce about the American she was engaged to. If yo don’t remember him ever being mentioned, it’s because she never even told her parents of their relationship. But in that resort, facing the beach, he asked her to marry him.

She also reminisces about her mom and her teachings on love and marriage. Ofelia has filled up the gas tank with gas from another car and is headed towards the USA. Those teachings have finally hit home and she’s going out there to get her boo.

Hotel is in business

Madison not only returns to the hotel late risking Strand’s life, she returns to turn on the big hotel sign on top. The generators allow for the Hotel sign to light up like a christmas tree. This is basically flagging down anyone to head to the hotel. In a city of darkness, those lights mean progress.

Alicia tries to stop her mom. Madison wants to attract Nick’s attention with the sign and Alicia points out the danger she is posing to everyone there. Madison says her child’s always her child even if he left on his own. It’s as if she never gave birth to Alicia. This is when Strands words to Alicia become important. Alicia reminds her mother that she is there. She’s never left and her mother doesn’t even care about her safety.

This moves Madison to turn off the lights. But one person saw it for the few seconds it was on. Travis. It’s the reunion we’ve been waiting for. However, Travis looks like he’s trecking along on his own. I wonder what happened to his psycho son.
